Delete a project and reload it in database

is there a way using dxl script to permanently delete a project? My problem is that I want to delete a project along with the modules inside it and restore the same project again using dxl script, and if I try to only restore the project it does not overwrite the existing one. Can you help?

Well, for deleting (=soft Delete) and purging (=hard Delete) the project, you can use the perms

string delete (Project)

and

string purge (Project)

 For restoring you can use

string restoreProject(string fileName [,string projectName [,string projectDescription]],[bool serverArchive])

For descriptions and/or examples, consult the DXL manual.

Could you please supply a code example using these methods? because I tried to use them and they weren't working. But please note that I want to completely remove the project from the database not just its reference, and reload it again. Thanks.

I don't understand what you mean by "remove from the database not just its reference". I see that when I create a project and purge it again, the DOORS database differs slightly, the file v6data\project.ixc has grown, but all modules and their are unrestorably deleted from the database. But I'm not sure why this disturbs you - after you have purged a project, you can recreate a project with the same name.

the code would be something like

string errormsg
Project p = project "/P123"
if null p then error "could not find project"
errormsg = delete p
if !null errormsg then error errormsg
errormsg = purge p
if !null errormsg then error errormsg
current = project "/Test" // base project
errormsg = restoreProject ("F:\\P123.dpa", "/P123", "My Description")
if !null errormsg then error errormsg

Thank you so much. That's exactly what I needed.
